Getting somebody in

Open the house from Today, tap the house ring and ask for six letters. The other person taps I've got six letters at their front door and types them in. A code lasts an hour and works once; if it has run out, ask for another.

If they are standing next to you, show them the square on your screen and they point their camera at it. With Coathook on their phone it opens straight into your house; without it, they get the six letters and a way to get the app.

A new phone

Tap I'm on a new phone at the front door. Somebody already in the house sends you a way back in from the House page. Your old phone stops reading the house the moment the new one is in.

A child's phone

A grown-up already in the house says yes on their own phone first, after reading exactly what the house will hold about the child. That yes can be taken back at any time from the House page, and taking it back signs the child's phone out straight away. The privacy policy has the whole of it.

It filed something wrong

Every sentence you tell the house is kept with what it made. Tap Fix on the toast that appears after you speak and change the rows in place, or Undo to take it back. Nothing is filed without a read-back first.

The list did not open at the shop

Your phone needs to be allowed to nudge you for places. Settings on the phone, then Coathook, then Notifications and Location, where "While using" is enough: the app never reads your position, it only asks the phone to wake it at the ring you drew.

Ending the house

Settings, then End this house. Every phone stops reading it and nothing survives, so say so to the others first. To remove one person instead, a grown-up can erase them from the House page.

Privacy questions

The same address. What the house holds about anybody can be read and sent from inside the app, line by line, without writing to us at all; the privacy policy says where.
